My Overall Rating
Features of The Titan 440
The Titan 440 IMPACT Airless paint sprayer is designed for heavy-duty commercial work. It sprays at 0.54-gallons per minute and offers a maximum tip size of 0.023”.
The Titan 440 has a maximum operating pressure of 3300 PSI and weighs in at 39 pounds for portability. For maximum power, you’ll be happy to see the 7/8-horsepower DC motor.
Sureflo Pusher Valve
Titan offers some unique qualities with the Titan Impact 440. The first is the Sureflo Pusher Valve. This literally takes the place of the hammer you used to use to loosen the stuck ball. Simply push the pusher valve lever and the pin will push into the ball cavity to get it off the seat. It is an extreme time saver and I wish all paint sprayers had something like it.
The AutoOiler is another exciting feature offered by Titan. If you’ve used previous sprayers, you know they had a small trough on the front face to squirt piston oil in before use. This left the top of the piston to remain exposed when you apply piston oil at each use. Now, simply push the button before spraying and your packings will be lubed up for maximum performance.
PermaLife Cylinder and Quad+ Packings
The PermaLife Cylinder has been created to eliminate wear. There is no need to ever replace it. In addition, the Quad+ Packings clean the fluid to keep abrasive coatings from damaging the piston. Not only does this allow the paint to move reliably, but it is also easy to maintain.
Older versions of the Titan sprayer used short, narrow filters that were seated in the spray gun. The upgraded manifold filter uses the full-size filters that are found on Titan’s larger pumps. This allows for a larger filtering surface and helps the paint to move through the gun smoothly. At the end of a day of spraying thick paint, the Titan Impact 440 still won’t labor to push out materials.
The Titan Brand
Titan has been a leader in paint sprayers and the 440 line has been standard since 1986. It was the first commercial sprayer to be offered on the market at under $1,000.
The lower cost and powerful sprayer allowed the smaller contractors the ability to afford the high-quality equipment.
The design has changed often over the years. It started as a small, boxy pump and is now a stream-lined piece of machinery.
One of the other things that set Titan apart from other companies is that they offer a lifetime warranty on the Titan 440 sprayer. To me, that says a lot about a company! They really believe in the product they are selling.
What Is the Titan Impact 440 Good for Painting
As an airless paint sprayer, the Titan Impact 440 is ideal for your large, exterior and interior painting projects.
You can use it to paint the walls and doors of your interior with ease. In addition, take it outdoors to spray the siding, fence, decks, barn and more!
Use latex, stains, enamels and lacquers with ease when painting with the Titan.
This Titan is simple enough that a beginner could easily start spraying with minimal practice. In addition, it is an asset to anyone who does residential work, property maintenance or municipal jobs. Small commercial applications would also work well with this Titan sprayer.
Keep in mind that this is an airless sprayer, so it isn’t ideal to use around items you don’t want to be painted. Be sure that everything is covered properly before you begin any painting project.
Price Guide & Comparison
Before purchasing the Titan 440, there are some other models and brands you’ll want to check out as well.
There are several Graco options that might be worth a second look. The first is the Graco Magnum 262805 X7 Cart Airless Paint Sprayer. It is quite a price difference and geared toward the heavy residential user or light commercial user. There are several qualities that this unit offers including the Flexible Suction Tube and Power Flush.
The downside to the Graco X7 is that it only offers a 5/8 horsepower motor and will only pump at 0.31-gallons per minute. A closer Graco model to the Titan would be the Graco 17G180 Magnum ProX19 Cart Paint Sprayer. It is still several hundred dollars cheaper but offers the 7/8 horsepower motor and pumps at 0.38-gallons per minute.
The higher end Graco model would be the Graco 17C305 Pro210ES Cart Pro Connect Paint Sprayer. This features a huge 1-horsepower motor but still only sprays at 0.47-gallons per minute which is 0.07 gallons per minute less than the Titan Impact 440. The prices of the two are very close to one another, so it would be more about determining which brand is better for you.
If you prefer to stick with the Titan brand but need something less powerful and expensive, look toward the Titan 0516013 XT330 Airless Sprayer instead. This sprayer offers a ½-horsepower motor with spray capability of 0.25-gallons per minute. It is also about $500 cheaper than the Titan 440.
Even though Titan is part of the Wagner company, some people will prefer to purchase a Wagner airless sprayer instead. One of the higher end sprayers is the Wagner 9175 Airless Twin Stroke Piston Pump Paint Sprayer.
It is a huge price difference and offers a ¾-horsepower motor with spraying capability of 0.35-gallons per minute.
All in all, it will be a matter of personal preference which sprayer is best for you. Obviously, the price will play a factor, but you should also keep the performance and guarantee in mind. The Titan 440 offers a lifetime warranty which is worth the additional cost to me.
In addition, there aren’t many sprayers that compare to the capability of the Titan Impact 440 airless sprayer.
The Titan 440 IMPACT Skid Style Airless Paint Sprayer 805-01 is discounted at a price of about $1100 plus you may have a small shipping fee. You save about 35% or almost $600 from its list price of around $1700.
Average Customer Reviews & Feedback
The Titan 440 IMPACT Skid Style Airless Paint Sprayer 805-015 garnered a perfect score of 100% stars out of 5 customers. An impressive feat indeed for this product.
One customer claimed that compared to the Graco 390, this model or item possesses more power.
It is way heavier as compared to the Graco, as well as the older 440i, but for him, the Titan did a better job in balancing the “weight of its heavier motor with the use of more plastic parts in the housing”.
Generally speaking, this is in fact a fantastic item to own. But perhaps the only flaw about this is that the location of the pressure control lights and knobs—is that they were placed on the unit’s side. But all in all, another customer says that it is a nice unit. And agrees with the positive reviews he has read.
This is a high quality and long lasting spray gun. It is suitable for use on large scale projects and not for smaller tasks such as furniture. If you are looking to paint the house, building, or fence then this will get the job done right!
